Maurice Dupont MD50 - 2006 - Natural w/OHSC
Description
This is a 2006 Maurice Dupont MD-50 in natural finish, built in April 2006 in France. Built in the traditional Selmer style, it features a solid spruce top, Indian rosewood back and sides, a walnut neck and an ebony fretboard. The oval soundhole, 14-fret neck joint and long 670mm scale are classic features of the Django Reinhardt-style jazz guitar.
The MD-50 is one of Dupont’s best-known models, designed around the clear attack, dry response and strong projection associated with traditional Gypsy jazz guitars. Its floating bridge and brass tailpiece construction differ from a conventional flat-top acoustic, while the cutaway provides easy access to the upper frets. This example also has attractive figuring in the walnut neck, wood body binding and a slotted headstock.
There are scattered finish dings and scratches on the body, with more noticeable finish wear and small chips along the back binding and body edges. There is also some tarnishing on the brass tailpiece, but overall it is still in very good condition. No cracks, repairs or structural issues of any kind. The frets are in excellent shape and it plays cleanly up and down the neck with good action and no buzzes or issues.
It comes with the original hardshell case, truss rod wrench and an extra ebony bridge.
